Its not just with guys. Its the same with women also. The main reason is that they are bored with themselves and their spouses. They do not know what to do to fill that void and so they go out and look for somebody else, thinking that they might fill that gap in their lives. Majority of people’s lives suck with some crap 9–11 hour day jobs. They don’t have any passion or interest in anything and they don’t even know that they have to look for it within themselves. So, they expect their spouses to fill that void somehow, which they cannot and even if they have an affair, it would be short lived and they don’t find anything there too.
Find yourselves. Find what you are and live that. Live “YOU”.

Maybe they see that life is short and there’s not much time left to enjoy it. They stop caring about obsolete social rules like monogamy and start caring about enjoying themselves and being happy. Marriage and monogamy goes against every natural instinct and, frankly, brings mostly unhappiness and frustration to all involved. After 40, you realize this and adjust your life accordingly.
